The 54-year-old coach is currently a coach of National Team of Serbia (from 2019). Kovač was also a coach of Top Volley Cisterna (2020/2021), Jastrzębski Węgiel (2019-2020), Biełogorje Biełgorod (2018/2019), Slovenia National Team (2017/2018), Halkbank Ankara (2016-2018) -2014 i 2015-2016), Iran National Team (2014/2015), and his first club as a coach was OKS Radnicki Kragujevac (2008-2010).
For the past 13 years, Kovač gained a lot of successes, among others, two Championships in Serbia and Turkey, two silver medals of the Italian Serie A and won the Challenge Cup. He won also the Asian Games with the Iranian team, and the European Championship with Serbia.
Before that, the Serb had a successful career as a volleyball player. He played in many recognized clubs in former Yugoslavia, Italy, Greece, France and Iran. His greatest successes were Yugoslav championship, Serbia championship, silver medal at the Greek championship, silver and bronze at the Iran championship or the CEV Cup. He was also a representative of his country, and has won gold and bronze at the Olympic Games, silver and bronze at the European Championships and victory in the Mediterranean Games.
From next season, Kovač will lead PGE Skra Bełchatów, and replaced Michał Mieszko Gogol as the first coach.
- I think that such coach needs no introduction. He is extremely titled, with experience. He is leading Serbia, which is one of the best teams in Europe, despite the fact that they did not play at the Olympics. He has a good understanding of the Polish league, he worked in Jastrzębski Węgiel, as well as with players of our team, i.e. Aleksander Atanasijevic in Perugia or Milad Ebadipour in the Iranian national team. I think that all this will translate into good cooperation, understanding and results of PGE Skra next season - says Konrad Piechocki, President of KPS Skra Bełchatów S.A.
Kovač will join the team after Serbia's participation in the European Championship.
