In December, PGE Skra took part in similar competition but in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Then it faced the host, Grupa Azoty ZAKSA (0:3), the Belgian Lindemans Aalst (3:0) and Fenerbahce Istanbul (3:1). The competition ended in second place in the group, and it is worth recalling that the winners and the three best teams from the second places will advance to the quarter-finals.
- We are going to have an exhausting tournament and we have to approach it as fresh as possible. For "good morning" we will play against Kędzierzyn, and we are the only team that has broken their points this season. I hope that our healthy mental approach and the fact that we play at home, in Bełchatów, will make us generate even more energy for this tournament - says Michał Mieszko Gogol, coach of PGE Skra.
That is why PGE Skra wants to focus on the first meeting, which may turn out to be crucial. The residents of Bełchatów will face Grupa Azoty ZAKSA, and in the event of victory, the chances of leaving the group will be much higher. It is worth adding that Taylor Sander, who won the MVP award during the last PlusLiga match against GKS Katowice, is showing an increasingly better form at PGE Skra.
- The Champions League will be very important. We want to win in all three matches. Now we can console ourselves for a moment and then we will try to win. I am waiting for the next training because we want to prepare well for the battles with our rivals. It will be great to play in our hall and make the club proud of us - says Sander.
All Champions League matches will be broadcast on Polsat Sport.
