A similar decision was made by the boards of the Polish Basketball League S.A. (Energa Basket Liga) and Superligi Sp. z o. o. (PGNiG Superliga).
The break in PlusLiga and Women's Volleyball League competitions is valid from today, i.e. March 12 (excluding KRISPOL 1. Liga, which on Saturday, March 14th will finish the last round of the main phase and there will be a break from 15th).
- Apart from the obvious epidemiological reasons, which are crucial, an increasing number of our clubs not only have nowhere to play matches, but even train, because in many places in Poland local authorities are closing school facilities or facilities of the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centers - says Paweł Zagumny, president of PLS. - At the moment they have nowhere to train teams from Będzin, from Monday from Warsaw. In such conditions, professional sport simply cannot take place - he adds.
The PLS management also adds that advanced work is underway to correct the game system so that the forced break does not result in the end of competition in our leagues. The future of the competition will be dealt with tomorrow at the meeting of the PLS Supervisory Board.
We hope that after improving the epidemiological situation in our country, all leagues will finish in a shortened form of the game and will select Polish champions and the team that will advance to PlusLiga.
