It was the second PGE Skra's CEV Champions League this season after winning with Trefl Gdańsk. Although Polish team was the favorite of the match, there were also votes that after the last weaker games, PGE Skra can have some troubles with their opponent. Unfortunately, this was confirmed on the pitch, because in the first actions Polish champions played from point to point, then in the next Belgians were definetely better than the Polish team. This is the effect of a good Greenyard block. In addition, the Belgians had a good service and created an advantage. Although at the end PGE Skra started to fight, the team lost 21:25.
In the second part of the game, PGE Skra was unable to show the team's strength again. It is true that PGE Skra played a bit better on the serve (ace was served by Karol Kłos) but thanks to the good service, Greenyard gained an advantage (5:11). PGE Skra started to show better volleyball and made a draw 13:13. Greenyard again looked better: blocked the attacks of volleyball players of PGE Skra. Belgian team was more effective and this was the key for the victory. Greenyard won 25:22 and were closer to victory in the whole match.
PGE Skra played better in the third set in which they gained a three-point advantage. They played more regularly, scored points with attack and finally used a good attack. Unfortunately, Greenyard caught up with guests and ... began to dominate. Unfortunately, it was not possible to maintain a good game and the PGE Skra lost the first Champions League game this season.
On Saturday PGE Skra will face ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle in the Polish Volleyball League.
