PGE Skra starts fighting in the Club World Championships

PGE Skra Bełchatów will have to face one of the most difficult tasks in the season. Polish Champions will take part in the World Club Championships and are going to play against best teams from all over the world.

About two months ago, the Polish National Team won the gold medals of the world championships which took place in Bulgaria and Italy. At the end of November, it is time to compete in World Championships again but for clubs. This special tournament has enormous prestige. This year in Płock, Rzeszów and Częstochowa will play Zenit Kazan (title defender, Champions League winner, Russian champion), Sada Cruzeiro (the best team in South America) and Sarmayeh Bank VC Tehran (the best Asian team). PGE Skra will play in the tournament as the Polish champion and host of the event. The final squad of CWC was completed by Asseco Resovia, Italian Cucine Lube Civitanova and Trentino Volley, as well as Russian Fakel Nowy Urengoj.

"I am happy that we will be able to play with the best teams in the world. We have very good memories of this tournament when we played in Doha" says Konrad Piechocki, President of PGE Skra. "From my perspective there is nothing better than playing with the best and this opportunity is a great challenge and, above all, a big thing for fans, because once again the tournament takes place in Poland. Playing in the final and the victory would be a great experience."

PGE Skra actually will play in "group of death". Our rivals will be Cucine Lube (Monday, at 17.30), Fakel (Tuesday, 20.30) and Zenit Kazań (Thursday, 20:30). "We want to play our best volleyball in this tournament" - says Roberto Piazza, PGE Skra's coach. "If you do not play your one hundred percent, you cannot think about winning the championship. We may be afraid of any rival, but they may fear us too. However, I do not think about others, I want to focus on our team and do our plan."

In Płock, where the group with PGE Skra stage takes place (the final phase will take place in Częstochowa), champions of Poland should start the match against Cucine Lube should in the best line-up. "It will be tough match. We will do everything to win" - says Kacper Piechocki, the libero of PGE Skra.

PGE Skra players count for a support from their fans. "It's a big plus that the fans will be on our side. It will also be a thing that will allow us to play better" - says Jakub Kochanowski, the middle-blocker of PGE Skra.
